January Detox Skin Boost
After a month of over indulgence, it is time to rid the body of Toxins and get a glow back into the skin. Above I have picked my favourite products to help your skin and give you back a natural glow.
1. Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum If you don't wear a serum, 2014 is the year you need to buy one. This is one of my favourites at this time of year. It is hydrating (giving you back the moisture lost in the winter months) and radiance boosting through its Vitamin C content. Wear underneath your daily face cream.
2. Tweezerman Tweezers a good way to starting to feel good is to shape your eyebrows, it is impossible to get even, groomed eyebrows without shaping them first. (Remember to pluck in between your brows (above the nose) and the strays above your eyebrows). Buy the Suqqu Pen too and you'll have perfect brows for January!
3. Drink hot (warm) Lemon and Water as soon as you wake in the morning. Being the first liquid to go through your body, it will flush out any toxins from the day before and kick start your digestive system. Clean organs, mean radiant skin.
4. Dior Lip Maximiser Nothing makes you look and feel better than a slick of lipgloss, this is one of my favourites as the tingling effect and Collagen enhancer plumps up my lips for the day ahead.
5. Dior Lip Enhancer I bought this last week in the airport on the way to a job, for a boost and I love it! Use instead of the above for a more subtle lip enhancing look. You only need a small amount, otherwise it colour enhances your lips too much and you look like you're wearing lipstick!
6. Glam Glow Mud Mask My new favourite Face Mask! It removes dead skin cells, leaving skin looking and feeling smooth, the mud dries any pores reducing their appearance. This is my number one product for January.
7. Organic Ginger Powder Ginger has so many good qualities for the skin and body, if you don't like it, make yourself! I used to eat Crystalised Ginger everyday, which is good but coated in sugar, so not brilliant. Finally this powder has been launched so you can sprinkle and add it to your food and drink. Otherwise, buy raw ginger, slice and add it to your hot lemon and eat it afterwards. A few benefits of Ginger are: relieves cold symptoms, enhances metabolism, relieves migraines, boosts immune system.
At Home Ginger Face Mask:
Mix milk powder and dry ginger powder to make a smooth paste. Apply on clean face and neck and leave it for 15-20 minutes. Wash and apply facial moisturiser. Use this once a week to clear acne and breakouts. This mask will rejuvenate your skin and renew the skin cells to give your skin a youthful glow.
8. Eat natural Almonds, they are full of Vitamin E (an Anti-Oxidant which helps prevent damage from UV rays), Protein (the building brick of skin), Magnesium (which can counter the effects of Stress Hormones, which damage and age the skin), Omega-3 Fatty Acids (your body cannot make these, after Walnuts, Almonds are the richest source, they support the immune system, increase energy levels and skin radiance). They are an easy way for you to provide benefits for your skin.
9. Nars Tinted Mouisturiser this glides onto the skin, evening out skin tone and instantly gives you a radiant glow. The perfect, healthy looking 'no make-up' look.
10. Hydrolysed Collagen this is beauty in a jar! Studies show that this may improve hydration in the skin by 28% and reduce wrinkles by 30%. It is still very debated, however, Collagen is the protein that keeps our skin tight and therefore, if we can maintain it within the body through a supplement, it may prevent the appearance of wrinkles.
11. Clean and Lean Diet Book this was a Christmas gift and by the end of Boxing Day I had read the whole book, it is so interesting. A must read for any girl wanting to get the most out of their skin. For all the men out there, have a read of Clean and Lean Warrior Book.
Lets get the best out of skin for 2014!

Christmas Beauty Gift Edit
All women love a beauty product, however giving cosmetics as gifts can be complicated, we all have different skin tones, wear a range of specific colours and use certain brands. Therefore, make-up gifts are rarely used and often left at the back of make-up drawers. Here I have gathered my favourite cosmetics, that will work for any woman of any age and be welcomed into every make-up bag! Click on the Links below to start your Christmas shopping……...
1. Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Or, this is a multi-use oil with flecks of gold, adding shine to hair, body and face. It is such a versatile product, I lather it into my hair as an overnight hair treatment, or slick it onto my arms and shoulders when going out, for an instance shimmer. It works on all skin and all ages.
2. Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers, no woman should be without these! Curl your lashes three times (instructions on the box) and quickly apply your mascara to set the curl. An instant eye opener!
3. Mac Lipglass in Clear, the no make-up wearer can slick straight onto their lips for a natural glow, or the heavy make-up wearer can apply over a lipstick for a 'glass' lip effect.
4. Aesop Reverence Aromatique Hand Balm, smell this product and you'll fall in love, it is divine and needed by every woman over the winter months.
5. Nars The Multiple in 'Copocabana', a really versatile product, I use this on nearly every job. Apply to the tops of the cheekbones for a golden glow, or rub onto your collar bone for shimmery skin. Again, you can use it on all ages and skin types.
6. Chanel De Volume Mascara, most women wear mascara and therefore the gift of mascara is always welcomed! Especially when it is this one, a fabulous build and curl mascara making the eyelashes appear twice as long and thick.
7. Barry M Dazzle Dust 'Gold Iridescent', dust onto the eyelids for a christmas sparkle, or flick onto wet nail varnish for a glitter effect.
8. Nars Opaque Nail Polish, who doesn't love a new nail varnish? This fabulous new colour by Nars will keep your friend on trend this winter.
9. Mac Penultimate Eyeliner, this is not as versatile as my other chosen products, this is definitely for the 'Make-up Wearer' rather than the 'Natural Girl', an easy liquid eyeliner.
10. Malin + Goetz Mojito Lipbalm, my favourite lip balm this winter and all women wear or should wear a lip balm to keep the lips hydrated and healthy in the cold.
11. Chanel Bronze Universal, another product I use on most shoots, applied over make-up it adds a golden, bronzed glow, or buff onto your body for bronzed limbs.
12. Aurelia Revitalise and Glow Face Serum, all women should be wearing a serum through winter, if your friend hasn't started yet then introduce her to this one, it can be used on all skin types and ages.

Lets Get Glowing Skin Without Make-up
Get Glowy
I have always believed and will always believe, that what we put into our body is represented
outside of our body. For instance, when I have been eating badly I know the
following week, I will see it in my skin, as well as lacking energy and sleeping
badly. This may be psychological, however it helps me improve and invest in
what I eat.
It takes time to see the results of eating
well, it can take up to three months for you to see the benefits in your skin,
hair and nails, so keep at it.
A quick sum up of what to eat/do and how it
benefits you is below:
OMEGA-3 FATTY ACIDS: help to keep the outer
layer of your skin strong so that external toxins and pollutants can’t enter
the body.
Found in, Salmon, Walnuts, Fortifies Eggs,
and Sardines. Really important for those who live in a city.
VITAMINS C, E and A: curb the damage to
skin caused by free radicals, which can harm skin cells and cause signs of ageing.
Foods high in Vitamin C: red/green hot Chilli Peppers, Thyme/Parsley, Peppers, Kale, Broccoli, Oranges, Tangerines.
Foods high in Vitamin E: Tofu, Spinach, Almonds,
Sunflower Seeds, Avocados, Olive Oil.
Foods high in Vitamin D: Fish, Cod liver Oil, Fortified
Cereals, Oysters, eggs.
If you need food inspiration take a walk to Wholefoods, you will not be able to resist all the beautifully stacked fruit, vegetables and enticing fresh juices!
REDUCE CAFFEINE INTAKE: caffeine is a
diuretic and therefore dehydrates the skin, causing it to become dry and flaky.
Interestingly, caffeine is used in many beauty products as it constricts small
blood vessels in the body reducing inflammation and therefore, if used in an eye
cream can ease and reduce puffy eyes.
KEEP HYDRATED: by
keeping your body hydrated, you are allowing your organs to work and function
properly and preventing congestion. Congestion and the storing of toxins is
what gives you dull and lifeless skin. Try and keep a 1.5 litre bottle with you
to drink through out the day.
My mum insisted as a child that I drank hot water with a slice of lemon, every morning before breakfast to improve my digestion. I hated it, but soon became accustom to it and now I cannot live without it! Flush out all the 'nasties' and start the day with clean organs, clean organs means glowing skin.
EXCERCISE: When the pores dilate sweat
expels dirt and oil trapped in pores. It
is so important to go to the gym or exercise with no make-up and cleansed skin, so you can
reap the benefits of getting everything out of your pores.
When you exercise , small arteries in your
skin open up allowing more blood to come to the surface of your skin, bringing
nutrients to prevent damage and rebuild skin cells. These nutrients also
improve your skins collagen production, which helps against wrinkles. Next time
you have a red face whilst working out, think of the benefits you are getting
from it!
If the gym isn't for you, I started Bikram Yoga around 6 weeks ago and have noticed the difference in my skin already:
I work on all skin types, skin type can be down to genes, however we can all help to improve our skin and the surface
of our skin, no matter what imperfections we have. For me as a Make-up Artist I
can get much better results on clients who have invested in their skin and
listened to what their body is telling them, through their skin. Instead of applying more make-up
to improve your look, think about reducing the amount of make-up you wear and
improving your look from the inside, long term this will be more beneficial.

Blemish Treatment
We all get the odd pimple/blemish/spot on occasions, but how to treat it is the key for fast removal. My two favourite products are:
Eve Lom Dyna Spot £22 from Space NK http://uk.spacenk.com/dynaspot/MUK154020009.html
Neals Yard Clarifying Mahonia Skin Gel http://www.nealsyardremedies.com/Clarifying-Mahonia-Skin-Gel
In the evening, remove all make-up, apply your usual moisturiser/serum, leaving the blemish area clear, then dab on a small amount of either the Skin Gel or Dyna Spot to the trouble area. The key is to get rid of all the bacteria and dry out the blemish. I swear by both of these, the Dyna Spot I can apply to my clients, wait to dry and apply make-up over the top.
Check out the Make-up Fix in a couple of days for the best way to cover and disguise blemishes.
